Information Security A High Priority Following Continued Exposure To Cyber Threats

Following the successful 2011 Infosec Europe exhibition at Earl's Court in London, where a myriad of information security topics have been discussed and debated, it has been revealed that IT security is one of the key priorities for CEOs.
As Europe's number 1 information security event, the Infosec exhibition earlier this year brought together leading industry members, providing a platform from which to highlight the most pressing information security issues of today.
Speaking at the Infosec event, senior director of products at Hewlett-Packard, Subbu Iyer, insisted that the recent spate of cyber attacks on various high profile companies has led to an increased level of concern amongst businesses.
The meeting of top IT security professionals came at a crucial period for the industry, with growing concerns over the ability of hackers to infiltrate and compromise a host of company systems, affecting not only their reputation and credibility, but also their bottom line.
In a study carried out by ISACA, it was discovered that the top four key points of concern amongst industry professionals were regulatory compliance, IT governance, information security, and disaster recovery. The report looked at responses from 2,400 professionals working in IT, security, audit and assurance representing 126 countries.
The report went on to explain that IT departments are most worried about data breaches, cloud computing and the rise in number of consumer devices in the enterprise. Tony noble, a member of ISACA's guidance and practices committee, said:
"The survey shows more clearly than ever that information technology cannot be managed in a vacuum."
